I'm Always Proud To Be A Sarawakian :)

I’m always proud to be a Sarawakian. No matter how bad the condition or how hard it is to live here or how far it is from development, I’ll always proud to be Sarawakian. The fact that I came from a very rural area of Sarawak make me even more proud. It held high my pride as a Sarawakian. :)
Here’s some introduction about my races. I’m a mixture of Iban, Kiput and Maloh. You might have heard of Iban. It held the largest population in Sarawak. And Iban language is the easiest language to be learned because pronunciation of its words doesn’t differ much from Malay Language. If you come to my home town, don’t be surprise to hear all Chinese shop owner speak better Iban than Malay Language.
Kiput? Maloh? Even if told a Sarawakian themselves, they might have said they never heard of this race before. But if you’re from Baram, then you’ll know how Kiput Language sounds. But it held a very small population. I inherit Kiput bloodline from my late grandmother (my father’s side). She’s originated from Kuala Tutoh, Baram. Too bad I never had been there. Maloh is another rare population originated from West Kalimantan. To make thing easier sometimes I just mention I’m a mixture of Iban, Orang Ulu (Kiput) and Indonesian (Maloh) because if out of all I’m saying that I’m Iban mix Kiput mix Maloh, they will ask me, “what is that races?”. They’re referring to Kiput and Maloh, then I will have to explain that these races held a very small population in Sarawak and it’s almost gone. Then some of them will call me an endangered species. Lol. I like that. Like Faisal’s Blog, be extraordinary. Hehe. Oh well, I’m an endangered species. Lol.
Apart from that, there’s something that I need to admit. I can’t speak Kiput and Maloh. I can only speak Iban. Too bad. But I can understand Kiput. Don’t try to say something bad about me in Kiput. Lol. But you can say that in Maloh. Haha. If you stand next to me and have a conversation in Maloh, I’m sure I don’t even know that you’re speaking Maloh. That’s the weird thing because I recognize lots of native language in Sarawak but never can indentify how does Maloh sounds like. I can recognize Kelabit, Kayan, Kenyah, Kedayan, Melanau, Bidayuh and Berawan, but never know Maloh. Too bad.
Here is a brief explanation of Kiput:
Kiput is a Malayo-Polynesian language spoken by about 450 people in Northern Sarawak. Yep, just imagine how small the population is. The entire language community reportedly resides in a single long-house known variously as Long Kiput, Long Tutoh, or Kuala Tutoh, located on the main branch of the Baram River about one kilometer from its junction with the Tutoh in Sarawak's Fourth Division. (Credit to Robert Blust )

Apart from that I’m an endangered species, (LOL) I came from a very unique place of Sarawak. I came from Marudi. It is parts of Baram. You can go there via boat, flight (twin otter) and off-road. :) By boat you’ll need to go Kuala Baram from Miri. The wharf stated right below Asean Bridge which connecting Miri and Brunei. Picture below is the pic I took during a trip via boat. During a very dry season, you can count a lot of crocodile sunbath on the river bank. Haha. It will take more than 2 hours trip via boat. You can sleep or read or counting crocodile along the way. :p I always spend the first hour reading. The second hour sleeping and the extra time; counting crocodile. :p

Sometimes, I don’t like a long trip. It was the time when I really miss my family and can’t wait to be home, the I take an early flight from Miri. 7.00am in the morning. Before 7.30am, I already home. Haha. It only takes 20 minutes. I still remember when Air Asia still taking care of the flight service, the journey is even shorter where I can reach Marudi in 15 minutes. In that case, I can go to Marudi town and have my breakfast. :)

During dry season, Marudian prefer off-road. :) Why I call it off-road? Because if you’re not good enough, you won’t pass the road. Very high hill. Muddy, slippery and most of time, the car will drift. Yes, as you can see in Tokyo Drift. (Ok, I exaggerated a bit :p) But don’t ever dare to drive over during rainy season or else you will end up like below picture. Owh, that’s my brother in law and my nephew. They stuck in the road. I mean it, IN the road. And that happen to a 4-wheel drive. The get my brother’s car sunk into the mud. Euwww… Don’t ever imagine how it will go with normal car.

Twice a year, Baram Regatta will be held in Marudi. It happens last year. Finally I get the chance to see it again after 12 years. Not that I never back home but every time the function held, I was away from home. After SPM, I fly to Kuching for Matriculation where I flunk almost every subject. :p In the second semester of my matriculation, I’m expecting for a repeat in Labuan Matriculation. Too bad I passed with an embarrassing pointer. I’m surprise to know back then that I’m going to further my study in Engineering field with such pointer. Ok, back to Baram Regatta. Here’s some picture. Guys, watch out for those pretty ladies for Miss Baram Regatta. *wink wink*
This is Julies Lucas. She crowned as Miss Baram Regatta that night. Bravo!!! She deserved it. :)

This is my little princess, my niece. She’s striking a pose with Miss Baram Regatta’s tiara. My sister working backstage that night, so I get the privilege of going there and get myself a better shot. Shot with those pretty ladies as well. :p

This is a bunch of dancers. I'm not kidding, they're going to dance in the middle of the river on that sampan. Just look at how big the river and the cloth they're wearing. I can't never imagine myself wearing that cloth and perform a tradisional dance on a boat.

Pretty ladies. :)

Veronica. Second runner up.

Crowning Julies.

Me and my sister. I always envy her hair. She doesn't need to colour her hair and she have that colour.

It's raining outside. I'm hiding behind my sister's back.

I take this pic before the pageant start, with Julies and her sister. Forget what's her name. :p
I don't know what's her name. Yes, she's an English girl and she play sape (traditional music instrument). Pretty isn't she? :)
This is Jane. She's the first runner up. She's my junior during primary school. Hmm...
And this is first runner up wanna be... Lolssss.. :p

Last weekend, Tomy held a BBQ at Taman Selera with his housemates. There I go chit chat with them for a while. Tomy, Audra, Chris and Ricky. Watching those rich man fly their glider along the beach. Hmm..

And below is the pics of my students. :)

My unfinish paper model of Kame House. Huhu.

Went funfair. Huh... Waste of money. :(

I get a comment old friend in Friendster. She thought I'm married. No I'm not. Haha. And the one with me there is my nephew. Haha.

I think this the longest post and has the most pics on it. Good day everyone. XOXO. :)
